The direct answer
The lunar nodes are calculated points, always opposite
The North and South Nodes are the two places where the Moon’s orbit crosses the ecliptic. They are not planets. In astrology, the North Node is often framed as developing territory while the South Node represents practiced tendencies and inherited comfort.
Read the result well
Meaning with context, not a fixed verdict.
The sign describes the style of the axis. With an exact birth time, the houses describe the areas of life where the pull between familiarity and development is most visible.
Accuracy note
Node signs move slowly and a date is normally enough. Exact houses require a recorded time and place. Zodiaro uses the True Node rather than the smoothed Mean Node.
Calculation method
How Zodiaro calculates it
Swiss Ephemeris calculates the osculating True Node. The South Node is placed exactly 180° away, and return peaks are found by searching for later conjunctions with the natal degree.

Validate the moment
The date, optional local time, and selected location are normalized before calculation.
- 02
Calculate the sky
Swiss Ephemeris resolves longitude and motion instead of using a simplified year table.

State the limits
The result tells you when missing birth details make a house or boundary uncertain.

North Node FAQ
What is the North Node?
It is the ascending intersection of the Moon’s orbit with the ecliptic, interpreted symbolically as a developmental direction.
How is the South Node calculated?
It is always exactly opposite the North Node, 180 degrees away in the zodiac.
True Node or Mean Node?
Zodiaro uses the True Node, which includes the small forward-and-back oscillation of the real nodal motion.
How often is a nodal return?
The nodal cycle is roughly 18.6 years. Exact return dates depend on the natal degree and the node’s irregular motion.
